Public Rights of Way (PRoW)

Rights of way in Gnosall

Our PRoW Group's primary aim is to record all the historic Public Rights of Way within the parish boundary. The deadline set by Government for this to be done is 2026, although they have stated an intention to pass legislation in 2021 to streamline the processes for recording and changing Public Rights of Way. This will make it easier and quicker for local authorities to process applications and add Public Rights of Way onto the definitive map and protecting them for the future.

If you find any faults on a Public Footpath or Bridleway, they can be reported directly to Staffordshire County Council (SCC) at https://prow.staffordshire.gov.uk/standardmap.aspx. There will be a need to create a login, but the information required to do so is minimal. In order that the PRoW Group can keep a record of all reports, please let us know of the report reference number you get from the SCC by simply forwarding the e-mail reply you have from the SCC to gnosallprowgroup@gmail.com

We also have a group of 'Footpath Friends'; volunteers who have taken responsibility for some Rights of Way in the parish. If you are registered as a Footpath Friend and need to make contact with the PRoW Group, or are interested in becoming a Footpath Friend, then please send an email to gnosallfootpathfriends@gmail.com

All users of Public Rights of Way should follow the Countryside Code
